DoD demo and miscellaneous

Update, due to DepositFiles files lost :

Here are the following demo files, which are here and moddb :

dod246, dod1_10, dod1_11  - this are demo files, from 246 to 1_11
Three demos which where having more added content. Use the newer dod1_10 with patch dod1_11.

dod_cz
DoD czech translation files. There was a italian one, which is lost :(

The old files that were lost. Don't use the gamex86.dll included (some AI soldiers get stuck). Even without this release off gamex86.dll, copy all the folders in your roarke folder. Don't overwrite your existing text files, just let it copy the new ones. The missing maps can be accesed by console, if you want to test them.

Pixly (android program) errors and bugs

Color box from upper right to bottom is moving, if you choose to.
A rare thing.



If image is to big, it will fail to save.


I was to chicken to press yes. This bug happens rarely.


Small view vibrate to up, down, left to right at random, about 1 mm to every direction, like in a invisible box (on screen, no sound involved) when moved.
Only two times happened.

Snowing test



- no invisibility backround
- more frames on the top must be added
- Snowing will be textures made from frames, seen in Quake army knife, when clicked, as a
animation
- snow parts must be smaller in the bottom part

I have resolved the problem in Quark with ,,cannot create directory for made texture error stops game mod,,

I have resolved by editing the below paths.
Every path may differ acording to everyone pc folders, but to work a path to a .pal file must be given, and in this case is pointing to Paint Shop Pro 7 because i use it for building textures there too.

View-Options...Palettes

Quake 2

Use this pallete: E:\Programs\Quake 2 tools\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Palettes\Quake2.pal

Color selction palette
Use this as the default: E:\Programs\Quake 2 tools\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Palettes\Quake2.pal

In Quark 6.6 beta 7, cannot create directory for made texture error stops game mod

The directory of the game is E:\Jocuri\Quake2 and Quake2.EXE +set game roarke in the command line.

The error :


I don't know what C: represent in this situation. The texture was made with Wally. I don't remember having problems in the past.
Quark settings :


DanielPharos from Quake Army Knife forum is on the path of helping me.


I rotate the coins_2 in Wally (the above image is in Quark texture browser) and made a coins_1.
No problem with this older modified texture when i run the mod.
In Wally is no problem too.

Using color distribution in the visible light spectrum for textures




I made some rugs, .png files, 128x128, using the color distribution in the visible light spectrum. The drawings have a traditional clothing patterns, but with no specific zone in mind.
The files are not yet converted to .wal textures.

Pixly (android program) deletes its .pal file bug


It renders your file as a 0 bit, as it deletes the data from the file.
You must make a folder and save your .pal file. If something happens, you will get it from there.
Rare, as it happened to me only two times (in a one year interval).

Pixly (android program) with the inserting .pal file option (part 1)

When you open Pixly, click on right top button (the brown-red and white square)

                                                      Click on the .. (in the lower left)

                                                                       Click "Load"
                                                       .png files are accepted too

                                                                Click "Import a copy"


                                                                       Click "Close"

 If you click "General" on the top left button, you will see different .pal files and by the Pixly author Gustavo Maciel.
When you add the Quake2 pal, it can be renamed the way you wanted.

                                               Now you will see the Quake 2.pal colors

Raw sound and how to do it, example


From a spaceship toy, you can get a squeaky sound when you rotate the top, and you can use the sound, for a door or a door with chains.
Almost all sounds are made manually

If you have "missing skin image file" error in Quark 6.6 beta 7 editor


  In Quark 6.6 beta 7, after one or some mouse clicks, you may get this error.


The player skin was showing in the game, but the error in Quark editor was shown. Doesen't matter that the file roarke.pcx was not here in this game folder, by default, temporary or not.
Put it here from pak0.pak from your roarke mod folder. You must rename it to skin.pcx after you close your Quark editor.

Quake 2 Dawn of Darkness skies in the making



The skies will be made for windows to look trough and for parts of the ceilings.
The textures are .png or .wal, 256X256 resolution and the images are tiled.
.png if not animated and .wal file type if they are animated.
